Prince Harry Holds Special Vancouver Meeting Ahead of Invictus Games
Prince Harry made a special trip to the Musqueam Indian Reserve during a recent trip to Vancouver.
The Duke of Sussex traveled to Canada to support the next 10 years of the Invictus Games. During his visit, Chief Wayne Sparrow welcomed Harry, 40, to the Musqueam Nation’s Little House and met three other Chiefs of the Four Host First Nations as well.
While at the Little House – a sacred place where family and community meet – Harry is introduced to young people from all four of the Four Host First Nations (Lil’wat Nation, Musqueam Indian Band, Squamish Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation) . They shared culture, heritage and vision of the future and gifts were exchanged from four nations.
In exchange, Harry gave all the young people tickets to the opening ceremony of Attictus Games Vancouver Whistler, which will be held next year.
On his trip to Vancouver, he appeared at the 2024 Gray Cup Ceremony where he discussed next year’s Invictus Games.
“It’s our 10th anniversary this year, which is very exciting,” he told TSN on November 17. “The Invictus organization started back in 2014. It’s a sports platform that is used for the rehabilitation and support of wounded soldiers, active duty and veterans. We have 25 nations, and it’s growing all the time. It really is an opportunity for people themselves and their families to heal and rejuvenate.”
Harry also showed off his new ink – well, sort of – while promoting the Invictus Games, thanks to a collaboration with Jelly Roll.
Back in September, Harry was spotted visiting a tattoo parlor in New York City. Royal watchers were quick to raise their eyebrows at the surprise appearance but Us Weekly learned at the time Harry was filming a promotional video.
The full video was released on Tuesday, November 19.
“We’re giving you a tattoo about the Invictus Games,” Jelly Roll tells Duke in the clip. Harry looked confused, replying, “No, no I came here to ask you to do the Invictus Games. No tattoo this time. I can’t do a tattoo.”
If Jelly Roll can give Harry a neck tattoo, the artist will perform at the Attictus Games.
“Wait, have you done this before?” Harry asked. Jelly Roll replied, “Indeed. A lot. Trust me man, you wouldn’t want anyone else to do this but me.”
A large piece of fake ink read “I am Jelly Roll” around Harry’s neck.
“How many people can say they anointed the Prince? I am very excited to perform at the closing ceremonies of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 on February 16, 2025!” Jelly Roll captioned the clip shared on social media. “Tickets are available at invictusgames2025.ca/tickets. See you in February!”
