Ted Danson‘s costars from The Man Inside he had a front seat in his devotion to the wife Mary Steenburgen.
During a special interview with Us Weekly, Mary Elizabeth Ellis again Lilah Richcreek Estrada recalled a fun fact they learned about Danson on set.
“He really loves his wife. He talks a lot about Mary. It’s so much fun,” shared Ellis, 45. “You’re like, ‘Oh my god, I’m so tired. I had to get up at five to get here.’ He then replied, ‘Yes, I had to get up at 3:30 because Mary and I needed our time together before I came here.'”
Estrada, 35, said it was “really good” for Danson, 76, to get up early and do Wordle puzzles with Steenburgen, 71.
“We learned that we like to sleep,” Estrada joked before Ellis laughed, “And what I learned is that I’m not committed enough to my relationship. And I don’t mind being at 3:30 in the morning.”
Danson and Steenburgen first met in the ’80s, but they didn’t start dating until they reconnected on the set of Pontiac Moon a decade later. Steenburgen was previously married Malcolm McDowell when Danson was married Randy Gosch from 1970 to 1975 again Cassandra Coates from 1977 to 1993.
The couple have continued to work together since tying the knot in 1996. Danson and Steenburgen appeared Gulliver’s Travels, Ink, Curb Your Enthusiasm again Nice place together. Danson recently told Us that he wants to work with Steenburgen “again” in the future.

While Steenburgen did not share the screen with Danson on The Man Insidehe had a good time working alongside Ellis, Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz again Sally Struthers. The Netflix series, which will premiere on Thursday, November 21, follows a retired man (Danson) who becomes a rookie private investigator.
“I want to be meaningful about that [projects] I choose, which is a wonderful thing about working with Michael Schur because what he writes about is important and meaningful,” said Danson. “We presented the best situation we can get to get old. I personally think that you can make every phase of your life as big and beautiful as you want it to be. So I’m happy to continue doing that no matter how old I get,” Estrada shared Us. “And I think our program gives us permission to do that at any stage of our lives. It shows us that it is possible.”
Ellis called The Man Inside “a beautiful invitation” to enjoy aging.
“It carries the aging process with such dignity, love, hope and light,” he commented. “Getting old is a wonderful thing. That’s what we really want. We want to be here for a long time. … There is a lot of optimism about aging in this show. I think people really connect with it.
The Man Inside will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, November 21.
