Cobra Kai’s Alicia Hannah-Kim Talks Death Season 6, Final Episodes
Cobra Kai fans were surprised by the shocking death in the second half of season 6 – and Alicia Hannah-Kim reveals how the cast reacts to the “unprecedented” episode and how it will affect his character, Sensei Kim, going forward.
“We were all shocked when we read the text,” Hannah-Kim, 37, said to herself. Us Weekly about episode 10 twist. “And actually the recording of it was pretty bad.”

The surprise came in the 2nd half of the last moments when Kwon Jae-Sung (Brandon H. Lee) and Axel Kovacevic (Patrick Lewis) got involved in the Sekai Taikai dispute. After collapsing, fighting between all dojos, the two faced each other in a contest that ended with Axel falling with a knife and eventually dying from a stab wound.

This incident was a turning point in the series for the fans and the cast.
“We all love Brandon so much and seeing him sleep was so emotional, but it just felt like it Cobra Kai it was really real in that sense, at that time because there are fight scenes, people get hurt, but people get up again. But this is irreparable damage,” said Hannah-Kim Us. “That’s all. He’s dead, so it was shocking. That’s the final cut and call there. And it was really painful.”
As for his character, the actor believes that Kwon’s death will “make sense” for Kim going forward.
“I think you can walk and talk as much as you want, but if the result hits you in the face like that, and you care deeply about Kwon; you’re a hard student for him, but he’s still one of his students,” Hannah-Kim explained. “I think he knows, as strong as he is, he sees them as people. Therefore, losing him will be painful for him.”
Hannah-Kim noted that the aftermath of Kwon’s death will “prompt her to make some very interesting decisions.”
Season 6 of Cobra Kai – which is the final season of the hit Netflix series – introduced fans to the softer side of the usually tough Kim, especially when he and Miyagi-Do master Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) started dating which I didn’t expect.
“I was shocked when the runners of the games [Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz] he told me that I would have a moment of love. My jaw dropped,” said Hannah-Kim upon learning that she will be a love interest on the show. “I was like, ‘Who?! What else? How?’ And then I felt uncomfortable sitting with Yuji. Because I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is happening!’ But it’s a lot of fun as a player.”

Hannah-Kim described an exciting on-screen kiss between her and Okumoto, revealing that the extras on set had no idea what was about to happen.
“I was just putting gum in my mouth with Yuji,” he said with a laugh. “Because we were both married and I was like, ‘Yuji, it’s been a long time since I’ve been with another man.’ Get ready!’”
But will their love go far? Fans will have to wait until part 3, but Hannah-Kim believes the two have “a lot in common” and wouldn’t be surprised if it happens.
“I think Cobra Kai It’s really interesting that they decorate their villains with opportunities for redemption. And like there’s a love interest and there’s comedy, he said. “Maybe Kim is about to fully soften – who knows!”
Cobra Kai season 6 episodes 1 and 2 are now streaming on Netflix. Part 3 drops on February 13, 2025.
