In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Psaki was asked how Democrats are starting to “plan the way forward” after losing the White House, Senate and House of Representatives.
“Look, I think the Democrats are in the wilderness, as you said before, there is no clear leader of the party. Joe Biden will leave office soon. Kamala Harris just lost the election. There are many governors. and other people who may come up that we may not know about, but there is no clear leader of the party right now,” he said. he.

The former White House press secretary said Harris’ loss presents an opportunity for emerging Democratic leaders to “pick up the mantle” and lead a party reeling from a string of disastrous election losses.
“That, for me, is an opportunity because people have to make a decision. No one is given this, of course. You either hold the mantle, or you don’t,” said Psaki. “Will you be the person who decides who should stand against Trump? Or will you be the person who unites the country? Will you be the person who talks about the economy and in ways that people understand? There are many ways to do that, I don’t know who will appear, but that is the time we are in right now.
