A Trump campaign official says Pennsylvania Dems will face jail time for the recount
Trump campaign chief Chris LaCivita predicted that election officials in Pennsylvania will face jail time for counting mail-in ballots with incorrect or missing dates after the state Supreme Court previously ruled that such ballots should not be counted.
“They’re going to jail,” LaCivita, Trump’s campaign manager, wrote on his X account Sunday evening. “Count it.”
LaCivita was responding to a social media post citing a Washington Free Beacon article explaining that Democratic Sen. Bob Casey endorsed Democratic Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia last year while campaigning for the position, before he and other Democratic commissioners voted to vote. count the invalid votes.
“I think we all know that precedent doesn’t matter in this country anymore,” Ellis-Marseglia said Thursday as she and other Democrats voted to reject a GOP-led challenge to the repeal ballot.

The state Supreme Court ruled before the election that mail-in ballots that do not include the legally required signatures or dates should not be counted to count legal votes in the state. Democratic-led election boards, however — including in Philadelphia, Bucks County, Montgomery County, and Center County — accepted the state’s highest court decision and voted to include those votes in the recount.
“People break the rules whenever they want,” Ellis-Marseglia said last week, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Therefore, for me, if I break this law, it is because I want the court to pay attention. There is nothing more important than counting the votes.”

In addition to Casey endorsing the Democratic commissioner during last year’s campaign, Ellis-Marseglia, along with Democratic Bucks County Commissioner Bob Harvie, contributed a combined $2,600 to Casey’s campaign this year, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

“The Casey campaign could end the recount at any time,” Pennsylvania Republican Party Chairman Lawrence Tabas said of the lawsuits. “And there are political consequences that destroy voter confidence in the current election. So we need to stop this campaign and declare McCormick the winner.”
