A plane crashes near the Ponoma Dragstrip during a racing event, injuring at least three
A single-engine plane crashed at a California racetrack on Sunday, injuring at least three people and disrupting drag racing.
The crash was reported at the Pomona Dragstrip shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday. At the time the venue hosted the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Drag Racing finals.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported the incident on X, noting that at least three people suffered “moderate to severe injuries.”
“At 11:10 AM #LACoFD units responded to one engine down,” the post said on social media. “3 passengers were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the crash to Fox News Digital, noting that the plane struck two vehicles on its way down.
“A single-engine Piper PA-32 crashed near La Verne, California, around 11:40 a.m. local time on Sunday, November 17,” the FAA said. “The plane hit two cars.”
“The number of people on board is unknown,” the statement said. “The FAA will investigate.”

Photos from the scene show several first responders working near the plane. The plane crushed a white truck when it crashed, and the damaged car was a few meters away from the crashed plane.
The finals of the races were suspended due to the incident, but the NHRA later said on Facebook that the race started at 1 pm local time.
