Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson: Who Won the Fight?

Jake Paul again Mike Tyson went head-to-head in a professional boxing match months in the making, but only one fighter could come out on top.

Paul finally won the game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday, November 15, with the event broadcast live worldwide on Netflix.

The scorecards gave Paul a unanimous decision victory (80-72, 79-73 x 2) after landing 78 punches and Tyson landing only 18.

Tyson’s loss marks his first loss by decision instead of KO, no contest or disqualification.

“Well, it happened. Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson. The crowd here is not sure what to do with it,” said analyst Mauro Ranallo about the result.

“It is such an honor. He is a legend. He’s the greatest that ever made it. I am inspired by him,” said Paul following his victory. “This man is a shadow. It’s an honor to be able to fight him. It was really hard, as I expected.”

At the time, Tyson was gracious in defeat, saying, “I didn’t show anything to anyone, but only to myself. I’m not one of those people who wants to please the world. I’m only happy with what I know.”

In March, news broke that Paul, 27, and Tyson, 58, would face each other in a boxing match, which was scheduled to take place on July 20. (The social media star has been boxing since 2018, while Tyson was a professional boxer from 1985 to 2005.)

“Mike wanted this to be a high-level fight. He wants a fight. I respect him for standing up and trying to finish me off,” Paul quipped at a press conference in May.

“I love Jake so much,” Tyson chimed in. “But once he’s in he has to fight like his life depends on it – because it will.”

Two months before the fight began, Tyson suffered an emergency while flying from Miami to Los Angeles in May, with his team insisting that Us Weekly when he was “doing good” after this incident.

“He was nauseous and dizzy from the rash 30 minutes before he arrived,” Tyson’s spokesperson said. “He is very grateful to the medical staff who were there to help him.”

Tyson and Paul both stated at the time that the fight would go ahead as planned.

Tyson later added, “Now I feel 100% even though I don’t need to beat Jake Paul.”

Despite the two previously saying, Tyson announced in May that he needed to postpone the fight due to his health problems.

“During Thursday’s consultation with the doctor regarding his recent flare-up, the recommendation is that Mike Tyson do very little training for the next few weeks and then return to full training without restrictions,” read a statement from Oscar. Tyson’s team wrote on social media.

The statement revealed that Tyson and Paul were “in agreement” with the decision, explaining, “It is appropriate that both athletes have equal time to prepare for this important match and be able to compete at the highest level.”

In his statement, Tyson thanked his fans for their “support and understanding” as he heals.

“Unfortunately, due to the flare-up of my wound, I was advised by my doctor to reduce my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” he said. “My body is in the best shape it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training regime soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you time, but in the end, you will still be out and out of boxing forever. I appreciate everyone’s patience and I can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year.”
