US Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., described President-elect Trump’s choice of Rep. Matt Gaetz to serve as his next attorney general as “God’s kind of tramp.”
Speaking to reporters, Fetterman acknowledged that some of Trump’s picks are good but stopped short of including Gaetz in that category.
“It’s just like God’s kind of move just to cause it to go down,” he said. “But, really, the Dems’ views on Gaetz, it’s not really interesting. The good ones will come through our partners on the other side, the GOP, about how they can justify voting that j— off.”

Besides Gaetz, Trump nominated Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., to serve as secretary of state and Rep. Elise Stefanik, RN.Y., became a United Nations ambassador. Those were important picks, Fetterman said.
He also noted that Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., served as Missouri’s attorney general before being elected to Congress.
“He would have been a solid pick. And then you take someone like that out,” Fetterman said of Gaetz’s selection. “There is nothing but movement. The interesting answers will come from our colleagues in the GOP whether they will vote or justify voting for that disruption.”
Gaetz may face an uphill battle for Senate confirmation.

“He will never be vindicated,” the Republican senator, who gave the name to speak freely, told Fox News Digital. One Senate Republican source said, “It’s not going to happen.”
Gaetz resigned from the House of Representatives on Wednesday after Trump announced his nomination.
I House Ethics Inquiry is investigating Gaetz on allegations of sexual misconduct, illegal drug use and receiving inappropriate gifts.
Rep. Michael Guest, R-Miss., chairman of the Ethics Committee, said “if a member is no longer a member of Congress, then the ethics code has no effect. So, if Matt Gaetz were to be appointed attorney general,” the ethics investigation [which] What is going on right now will end at that time.”

In addition to the ethics investigation, Gaetz was present at another time investigated by the Department of Justice (DOJ) in a years-long investigation into alleged sex trafficking.
Last year, Gaetz’s office said the DOJ had concluded its investigation and decided not to indict him.
