Elon Musk says the actions of the Department of Public Works will be online
Elon Musk, who was chosen by President-elect Donald Trump to lead the Department of Government Operations (DOGE) with former Republican president Vivek Ramaswamy, shared details on X on Tuesday how the department will work.
Musk said the department will take suggestions and concerns from the American people every day about how the government spends money.
“Whenever the community thinks we’re cutting something important or not cutting something wasteful, just let us know!” Musk said in part in the X post.
Musk also said that all of the department’s actions “will be posted online for greater transparency.”

“We will have a leaderboard as well [the] stupid misuse of your tax dollars. This is going to be badass and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” he wrote.
When he announced the new department on Tuesday, Trump said its goal would be to “dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulation, reduce wasteful spending, and rebuild government agencies.”
“DOGE” will advise and guide the administration using information from outside the government and will work with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to “proceed major structural reforms.”

Musk and Ramaswamy, both successful businessmen, have been outspoken about their desire to cut unnecessary spending to reduce the national debt by at least $35 billion.
“This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people!” Musk said.
Ramswamy also said that he and Musk “wouldn’t get along” shortly after Trump announced their new roles.
