A Louisiana woman has been charged after she left her child on the street, lying about kidnapping: police
A Louisiana woman has been jailed after police say she falsely reported the abduction of her young son last week.
Artasia Viges, 24, called authorities around 1 a.m. Nov. 5 to report the alleged abduction of her young son near US 190 and Industrial Road in Eunice, according to the St. Louis Parish Sheriff’s Office. Landry.
Viges said he was parked on the street changing a tire when “people in an old truck” took his son.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they quickly learned that residents had found the boy alone in the parking lot of the Heinen Medical Clinic “with bruises on his knees,” the sheriff’s office said.

The child, whose age was not released, told police that his mother “knocked him over” and left him on the side of the road. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Juvenile detectives from the sheriff’s office have been called in to investigate due to major discrepancies in statements between the child and his mother.
The sheriff’s office said a recent interview with Viges “revealed the ugly truth,” which was that the little boy was not kidnapped, but left unattended on the highway and “allowed to run away at night.”

“What started as a disagreement between the mother and the child turned out to be a surprise because the child was angry,” said the shendara’s office on Facebook.
When Viges stopped the car, his son got out before the car stopped, causing injuries to his knees. The sheriff’s office noted that he was “obviously not properly restrained.”
Viges allegedly told detectives that he did not try to go after his son and “ended up losing sight of him.”
