Former Biden chief warns Dem governors against ‘knee-jerk’ opposition to Trump’s border plans.

CNN analyst and Biden White House communications director, Kate Bedingfield, warned Democratic governors not to “give a knee” to President-elect Donald Trump’s border security plans.

Bedingfield made the comments on CNN Tuesday during the network’s discussion about the Trump administration’s latest staff picks that will reflect his aggressive stance on fighting illegal immigration.

“I think the Democratic governors kneel down and take the position that we’re going to fight this, it’s not smart,” Bedingfield said.

The president-elect announced earlier this week that he would appoint former Obama-era ICE chief Tom Homan as his border chief to oversee mass deportations and make former senior Trump adviser Stephen Miller his deputy chief of policy.

After the announcement, Homan warned the governors of blue states who say they will resist the Trump administration’s second deportation action to “get the hell out of there.”

On CNN, Bedingfield appeared to take Homan’s side and the administration’s side, telling governors that they should respect Trump’s election night victory and not interfere with the voters’ decision for the President-elect to enact his border policies.

“I think the Democratic governors need to respond to what the people said on Tuesday [Election Day],” he said, clarifying, “That doesn’t mean they need to wholeheartedly accept family separation and mass deportation.”

A former Biden official reminded viewers that despite talk of blue-state opposition, Democratic lawmakers “put forward an aggressive border bill last year, that any Democratic governor is wise to — I think — accept.”

Bedingfield said he believed that the propaganda used by Trump’s allies regarding security on the southern border of the US was cruel and that is why the Democratic leaders opposed Trump’s plans.

“I understand – because of the insensitive and hateful language that Stephen Millers use on the world, I understand why the Democratic governors feel it’s their responsibility to oppose it. That’s what I get.”

Even so, he said these leaders should not be caught not doing enough on this issue just because of speeches.

“But I think the knee-jerk reaction that we’re going to be seen as the people who are standing in the way of taking aggressive action on immigration is not the place for Democrats.”
