San Francisco residents look to the future after ousting a sleazy Dem mayor
California Democrats are looking to turn a new page with the election of San Francisco Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie, who defeated incumbent Mayor London Breed.
Lurie, a first-time candidate, Levi Strauss heir and founder of an anti-poverty nonprofit, positioned himself as a tough-on-crime alternative to Breed’s lax policies on crime, drug use and homelessness plaguing the city.
Lurie bested Breed, who became the city’s first Black female mayor, by more than 10 points, 56% to 43%.
During his first speech as mayor-elect, Lurie committed to “clean and safe streets for all people, to deal with our drug and behavior problem, to shake up the corruption and ineffectiveness of regulation, to build enough housing, so that our neighbors can live here, support.” our small businesses and breathing life back in the city.”

Steve Hilton, a Fox News contributor who also worked for British Prime Minister David Cameron, told Fox News Digital that the change came after San Francisco reached new heights in recent years.
“This great, wonderful city has just fallen into crime and chaos and ugliness and decay because of far-left policies, because the Democrats have been in power forever,” Hilton said. “You’ve seen drug markets open, you’ve seen homeless people everywhere and crime is rampant.”
“And finally, people have had enough, we want change,” he said. “So they fired Mayor London Breed and elected Daniel Lurie. He’s a Democrat, but a sane one. He wants to clean up this city.
“People want change in California — you’ve seen it all.”
Democrats in the once-golden California city told Fox News Digital they hope Lurie’s election will bring about change.
Chis Cheng, a 17-year San Francisco resident and professional sports shooter, said he’s glad Lurie’s policies will be implemented.
“I am very happy with the results of the mayoral election. I used to support London Breed, but the last few years have been very difficult for the city,” he said. “The last few months have been better, but it’s too little, too late.”

“I voted for Daniel Lurie and I believe he is our best choice for mayor to change the difficult situation in certain areas of San Francisco,” added Cheng. “The area I live in has its fair share of homelessness and drug addiction – and I live in a good area that generally doesn’t have that.
“It shows that the character of certain areas of San Francisco that were traditionally safe for children has changed. We really need someone like Daniel Lurie to come in and enforce the law, clean up our streets and make them safe again. Let’s hold San Francisco accountable.”
Lee Neves, a California Democratic political consultant, told Fox News Digital that he hopes the party will be okay after the mayor’s results.
“I think voters in San Francisco and across the Bay Area sent a message on Tuesday. They’re tired of the status quo. They’re tired of crime policies and making excuses for homelessness,” he said. “They want results, they want the homeless to get off their streets and out of their parks.”

“They want their roads and parks back, to be able to go shopping without worrying about being robbed,” added Neves. “Voters are fed up with it. The Democratic Party needs to wake up and take control of our policies.
“We have to come to the center where people are so that people can feel safe in their community.”
