Raunchy R-Rated Coming-Of-Age Comedy Hits Netflix Just In Time For The Holidays

Each generation of moviegoers has a series of classic comedies in their repertoire that served as cultural touchstones during their youth. If you grew up in the early 2000s like I did, it’s a 2007 blockbuster Even worse it’s probably one of your next adventure plans. Fortunately, those who like to rewatch the funny movie can find Even worse is streaming on Netflix starting November 1, just in time to throw it at an impromptu holiday viewing party.
Superbad on Netflix
For those who are not used to it Even worseNetflix deal may be your first chance to experience the horror comedy, which centers on a pair of awkward high school seniors named Seth and Evan. Children, who have had little luck with girls throughout their teenage years, have become convinced that their only chance to get close to those who abuse them is to raise their public profile.
As the two mutants stare down the barrel of graduation, college, and a lifetime of adult responsibility, they decide to make their last days at public school count, by buying lots of booze at a local party.
This mission to illegally buy party favors turns out to be more difficult than they thought, however, leading Seth and Evan on the adventure of a lifetime. Along the way, they run into no-nonsense cops, a group of hateful adults throwing their own party, and a classmate with a fake ID, who stands for the single word “McLovin.” As the narrative of Even worse on Netflix builds to its happy ending, the two learn to reevaluate their life goals, their college plans, and even their friendship.
From the Mind of Seth Rogen
Even worse it was written by longtime friends and frequent collaborators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who supported the Netflix outing freely in their youth. Agree, Fletch filmmaker Greg Mottola serves as the film’s director, and comedians Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Emma Stone, Joe Lo Truglio, Dave Franco, and Saturday Night LiveBill Hader directs the cast. Having grown up without the chance to play the role of Seth in the film, Seth Rogen also appears in the credits as one of the kooky cops, alongside Bill Hader’s show-stealing Officer Slater.
The legacy of Superbad
Personally, I am very happy to see that Even worse streaming on Netflix, as the film was an integral part of my childhood, and contains many jokes and turns of phrase that are part of my common language to this day. Critics and audiences alike flocked Even worse upon release, making it the highest-grossing high school comedy in cinema history, with a worldwide box office return of approximately $170 million against an estimated production budget of only $20 million. Today, the film boasts an almost perfect critic score of 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
That you live long Even worse big fan or brand new viewer, you’re sure to enjoy the hilarious comedy of the R-rated movie now that it’s streaming on Netflix. Anyone under the age of 16 may struggle with the main characters, while those of us who have crossed the threshold into adulthood can look back and cringe at our silly adventures.
